Never Has So Much Bullshit Been Spouted by So Few
(And Taken As Received Wisdom by So Many)
3rd May 2007
TWSI Runs the Rule Over the standard nonsense spouted for why United have nothing more to look forward to than beating Chelsea twice - which of course is nice, they'd love it if they beat them... and so would nuetrals...
The upshot is two cynical* teams that have tried to win this and not be champions will contest the so called champions league final . No idea what that says except this is a cup competition. If you win as many away games as mediocre maestros Man City you are not champion of anything!
* One in more senses than targetting this competition.
Anyway below is our antidote to the media garbage that passes for analysis and was written prior for use in case Milan won... Kaka this Kaka that... Nonsense.
Bollocks Spouted
Milan were brilliant? They weren't! THe bookies are right to make Liverpool favourites. All Milan's goals came from defensive howlers. If they were so good why didn't they score without assistance from Kamikaze defending?
The best player was Kaka. Bullshit. He wasn't even the best Milan player. Granted he was better than Ronaldo (not hard) but Scholes was head and shoulders the best player. He continually had the ball and distributed it intelligently.
So many double standards in commentary like jokingly "Oh Milan are the masters of slowing the game down, ho, ho". Had any Premier League player wasted time and feigned injury as cynically as the Milan players they would be vilified by Andy Gray and his goons on Sky.
The referee had a good game. Crap. He gave 21 fouls against Man Utd and 11 against Milan -- and I would say the majority of the Milan free kicks were in more dangerous places. As with the scandal that Milan should have been relegated for, the selection of the referee in both games made a huge difference.
Ferguson knows what he's doing in Europe. Bullshit too. He seems to get all the players quaking in their boots over what their opponents did 50 years ago. The appalling away record is no co-incidence. Neither is his tactical blundering.
That the third Milan goal made a big difference. It didn't. It hardly altered things at all. Man Utd still needed to get two goals and then it would have been extra time. What sort of idiotic numbskull thick commentator (and Milan team and fans) thought that goal was decisive because it absolutely wasn't.
Some Home Truths
Brown and Carrick disappeared.
Ronaldo made little effort to put pressure on the Milan defence and so, to some extent, did the Big Man. This is largely Ferguson's fault for his ludicrous tactics of wasting United's best asset of wingers by playing them too narrow and allowing the Milan full backs full rein to go forward.
Heinze and O'Shea were panic stricken in the first half. Both were appalling in terms of distribution of the ball and Heinze made cock up after cock up -- although he got better later on.
Giggs was shit.
Fletcher was shit too.
Ferguson did his normal trick of making a substitution about half an hour too late. Why the hell didn't he use any others?
It will be exceptionally difficult for Man Utd to go any further in this competition with Ferguson in charge. That's why getting to a final against Liverpool would have been the best opportunity to win it again.
